FEELING STUCK, OVERWHELMED OR UNFULFILLED?

The power for change is available inside your brain.

Adele Spraggon says you can shift from feeling paralyzed to empowered, and she has a 4-step ‘re-patterning’ technique to rewire our "hard-wired" patterns. Adele dives into the behaviors of the human brain when it comes to creating patterns, and shares how we can use that to our advantage in order to constantly improve and evolve.

Our patterns dictate our actions. We need to replace the old patterns with those that serve us. - Adele Spraggon
The 3 Types of Patterns:
  1. Unworkable: Patterns that are no longer aligned with the situation you are in, and as a result cause conflict (internally or externally)

  2. Workable: Patterns created in the past for a different situation that continue to be effective in your current situation

  3. Optimal: Patterns that are aligned perfectly with the situation you are in; a pattern is optimal only at the time of its creation. For a pattern to be optimal, it must be directly related to the situation you are in the present moment. Optimal patterns are formed out of the now and for now.

In this episode:

  • We think in reaction to events that have already occurred

  • Each experience we had in early life (and the decisions we made in response) - for better or worse - formed a pattern in our brain that continues to this day

  • All patterns consist of a physical sensation, an emotion and a thought... but not every pattern is created equal

  • If you get the message that something is wrong, Adele says that it means you are running a pattern that is not a fit for the situation

  • We must let go of our reliance on our "box" of past-created patterns. We can deconstruct the patterns currently stored in our box, and replace them with optimal patterns

  • The "strategy of subtraction"

  • The root cause of procrastination and overwhelm

  • The role of self-forgiveness in repatterning

  • The 4 most common traps we experience in trying to change our brains and our behaviors:

    • Analysis Trap

    • Justification Trap

    • Catastrophizing Trap

    • Rebel Trap

"If everyone else can follow through on their commitments, why can’t I?" The fact is, the only people who are following through on their commitments, do so only because they have a pre-existing pattern for commitment. - Adele Spraggon
